Steven Worbey is well-known as one half of the international piano duo and Steinway ensemble, Worbey and Farrell, who have performed in leading concert halls and theatres of over one hundred countries in with their unique and much-loved take on the piano duet.
Steven studied piano performance at the Royal College of Music with Phyllis Sellick, Yonty Solomon after which he won a scholarship to study as Post-graduate level with the Peter Katin (with whom he performed in a series of piano duet concerts). He teamed up with composer/pianist Kevin Farrell in 2002 and launched Worbey and Farrell at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in March 2003.
Steven has some availability for private piano lessons for students aged 12 upwards of beginner level and above. Make contact here to enquire whether there is available space for new students. Due to his busy performing schedule there is an online calendar where students can book lessons in advance. Tuition is given in Pimlico, London on a Steinway & Sons grand piano.
Worbey and Farrell are also regulars on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, BBC Radio’s Friday Night is Music Night and also performed on television including being featured on ITV’s This Morning. They’ve sold out a residency in the English Theatre of Vienna, Toured South Africa, South Korea, Portugal, Japan and Germany and once performed with the late Mickey Rooney in Chicago.
In March 2018 they performed under the baton of renowned conductor Barry Wordsworth with the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra at the Brighton Dome. They recently also had their debut at the prestigious classical music venue Snape Maltings Concert Hall as part of the at Snape Proms. They’ve been headline performers on the maiden voyages of all four of the Cunard ships: Queen VIctoria, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary 2 and the new Queen Anne. Last year they were invited by Liza Minelli and Lorna Luft to compose a piece of music for their legendary late mother, Judy Garland for her 100th anniversary Gala in Hollywood, California.
Steven now lives in Pimlico, London and when not travelling and performing he runs YourNameInMusic with Kevin Farrell and teaches piano on his Steinway grand.
